It was so nice to have my baby back in the nest for a few days over the holiday weekend! We mostly stayed home for quality time (which generally means eating and watching movies) but we were able to fit in some shopping. I’m sure that’s universal college kid stuff. Whether they come home, or we go there, we ALWAYS take them shopping for the stuff that they don’t want to pay for themselves! So nice to be needed 😏
A new chapter for my youngest daughter: going off to begin this ‘growing into adulthood’ phase of her life (more on that later, she said something funny today) and a new chapter for me - all of the sudden, I have an empty nest. That has been a little weird.
This past weekend was Dad’s weekend for our college girls, so we headed to Norman to spend the weekend. I’m always so grateful when we get to spend any time together, and boy, did we get to spend time together! They had packed their bags for the weekend so we could all stay together at the hotel. So much fun and so. much. togetherness.
I spent the day with my 86-year old mother yesterday, celebrating her birthday. It made me very grateful for many things: first and foremost, my mother! Geez, the things she has seen in her 86 years and she is still going strong. I hope that I can live such a life. She has given much and taken little, and requires very little to be happy. And she has always been such a steadfast, calm influence in my life. Such a beautiful woman. I am grateful.
